DC voltage network exercise 1

R1 = 8 Ω, R2 = 1 Ω, R3 = R4 = R5 = 3 Ω, R6 = 2,5 Ω, I = 10 A

Calculate the voltage VI and the voltage drop across resistor R6.

R45 = R/2 = 1,5 Ω         
R456 = R45 + R6 = 4 Ω
R23 = R2 + R3 = 4 Ω
R23456 = R23 || R456   = 2 Ω
Rtotal = R23456 + R1 = 10 Ω

Vi = Rtotal · I = 10 Ω · 10 A = 100 V

V23456 = R23456 · I = R456 · I456 

I456 = R23456 · I = 2 Ω · 10 A  = 5 A
.             R456           4 Ω

VR6 = R6 · I6 = 2,5 Ω · 5 A = 12,5 V
