A widely used unit for temperature, mainly used outside Europe, is the unit "K"(Kelvin). Also temperature differences (ΔT or Δϑ) in physics and in technology are given in the unit 'Kelvin' .
A temperature change of 1 K corresponds exactly to a change of 1 °C. Celsius and Kelvin differ in their zero points, for example 0 °C is defined as the freezing point of pure water, while 0 K is defined as the physically lowest posible temperature - also called as the absolute zero point. Here, gases do not have thermal energy. 0 K corresponds to a temperature of -273 ° C.
